SPF Checker

Look up TXT records for a domain to find SPF entries that define which servers are authorized to send email on its behalf.

What Is an SPF Record?

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an email authentication mechanism that uses DNS TXT records to declare which mail servers are allowed to send email for a domain. Receiving servers compare the sending IP to the SPF policy to determine whether a message is likely to be legitimate.

An SPF record typically starts with v=spf1 and includes directives such as ip4, include, and all.

How to Interpret TXT Results

  • In the TXT results above, look for records that begin with v=spf1 — these represent the SPF policy for the domain.
  • Ensure there is only one active SPF record; multiple conflicting records can cause validation failures.
  • After editing SPF records, allow time for DNS propagation before retesting.
  • Combine SPF with DKIM and DMARC for stronger protection against spoofing and phishing.
